The Equity Atlas
See opportunity, tract by tract
Ten measures across Dane County's 125 census tracts — income, race, transit, health access, housing cost, and more — folded into one Neighborhood Attendance Risk Index. Every number names its source and says how sure we are.
Starting view: the composite index. Switch the "What" dial to see any single measure underneath it.

Open Policy MapsHow to read this atlas
Every measure on this atlas comes from a named, dated source. Every value carries a confidence tier — from T1 (measured directly for this tract) to T5 (an indirect proxy). Tiers aren't a footnote: they change how the tract is drawn on the map itself, not just what a click reveals.
How to use the three dials
Where sets the geography (Dane County today; statewide is architected but not yet populated with real data). What picks the measure drawn on the map — start with the composite index, then drill into any single layer. Who applies a demographic lens on top of the current measure.
Keyboard and screen reader use
Tab into the map to reach the first tract; arrow keys step between tracts in document order; Enter or Space opens a tract's card. Every tract carries a text description combining its name, value, and confidence tier, read aloud by screen readers even without a click.

Sources with an ACS 2024 5-Year vintage were refreshed 2026-07-03. Eviction filing data remains 2015–2017 — the most recent tract-level release available; see the eviction layer's description for why.
